Price My Item is a free service that estimates a realistic resale price for a used item from a single photo. Below are answers about cost, accuracy, privacy and how to use it.
Basics
Q.Does Price My Item cost anything?
No. Price estimates are free and you don't need an account or an email address.
Q.How many estimates can I make?
Up to 20 estimates per day. The limit resets every night at 00:00 UTC.
Q.What kind of items does it work for?
Most consumer goods: electronics, furniture, clothing and shoes, bags, sports gear, tools, baby and kids' items, games and collectibles. It is not intended for cars, property or financial assets.
Q.Does Price My Item buy or sell items?
No. It only gives you a price estimate and selling tips. You sell the item yourself wherever you like, for example on eBay, Vinted or Facebook Marketplace.
Q.Which languages are supported?
English, Finnish, Swedish and German. The language also sets which country's second-hand market the estimate leans on. Prices are shown in euros.
Accuracy
Q.How accurate is the price estimate?
It is indicative. You get a typical selling price, a price range and a confidence level (low, medium or high). Estimates are usually most reliable for well-known branded products that sell often second-hand.
Q.How does the AI know the price?
An AI model (Google Gemini) identifies the product, brand and condition from the photo and estimates a price from its broad knowledge of typical second-hand prices. It does not look up live listings, so compare the result with similar sold items.
Q.When should I be careful with the estimate?
Antiques, art, jewellery, gold, rare collectibles and luxury items that need authentication are hard to value from a photo. Treat the estimate as a starting point and ask an expert if needed.
Q.How do I get the most accurate estimate?
Use a clear, well-lit photo showing the whole item. Add brand, model, year of purchase, condition and any flaws or accessories in the details field. More detail means a better estimate.
Q.Can I use the estimate for insurance or probate?
Not as an official valuation. It's useful for setting your own selling price and as general guidance. For official purposes, use a professional appraiser.
Privacy
Q.Are my photos stored?
Photos are not stored permanently. Each photo is sent to the AI provider for analysis and the result is returned to you. See the privacy policy for details.
Q.Do you need my personal details?
No. You don't need a name, email or account. To enforce the daily limit the service counts estimates per IP address.
Using the service
Q.Can I share an estimate?
Yes. After an estimate, tap “Share appraisal” to get a link anyone can open without signing in. The estimate details travel inside the link itself.
Q.Can I use it from an AI assistant?
Yes. Price My Item offers an MCP endpoint at https://pricemyitem.app/mcp, so assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can request an estimate after you sign in.
